Chomping at the Bit!

Still have lots of thank-yous I need to send, but meanwhile, I needed a get well for a friend.  I used the Stampin' Addicts Pinterest Recycle Challenge #6, which happens to be a sketch, for the inspiration.  The monochromatic look works well on this card, I think.  And you can't see it in the photo, but the dahlia has Dazzling Details glitter accents and looks fab in real life. ;-)

This sketch would work for so many occasions! I can see it as an Autumn card, with leaves and acorns, Halloween with a group of pumpkins, or a birthday card with a group of balloons.

It is soooo nice to get back in my craft room! I really missed the "therapy" that creating gives me.  These past few weeks have been a hectic whirlwind, to say the least. From the date of my husband's diagnosis to his surgery was just SIX DAYS, so we didn't really have time to prepare (probably a good thing - no weeks of dreading it). Now it is two weeks out from the surgery and he is doing remarkably well.

I am so grateful for the blessings we've been given, from the diagnosis being something that could be repaired with surgery, to the doctors who were so skillful in doing the surgery, to the wonderful nurses who took care of him in the hospital, to being able to stay with him overnight in the ICU (and the regular room when he was moved upstairs), to all the prayers and well-wishes from family and friends.

Gonna Need a Lot of These.....

I don't know where to start, so let's just say I'm going to need a lot of thank you cards (more than normal) over the next few weeks and months. My sweet hubby, who has never had surgery or been really sick in his whole life, is having major surgery on Wednesday. If they don't relieve the pressure on his cervical spinal cord, he will end up in a wheel chair. Cervical Laminoplasty is a scary thing, and they have to do it on three (just found out) four vertebrae.

I'm going to need to thank the doctors, nurses, physical therapists, and so on, for the care he will be receiving, so I'm going to need a LOT of thank you cards. The problem is, I'm so worried about him, my mojo is hiding.

I decided I could clean and organize my stamp room while my mind was elsewhere, and whilst straightening I found a few colored Pleasant Poppy images leftover from Convention 2012. (You know, cleaning my stamp room is not unlike an archaeological dig....the deeper I go, the further back in time it goes.) LOL

I also found a bunch of Cherry Cobbler Labels Framelits already cut (what was I planning to do with those?), and some Very Vanilla panels already imbossed.  Well, heck, there's a card almost ready to be put together right there!  Just add some Gold Foil Paper to make it fancy, a Tiny Tags thank you, and there ya go! Okay, one down, a dozen more to go.

I hope you will keep my hubby in your thoughts and prayers on Wednesday. He is the love of my life, my rock, my everything.

If you don't hear from me for a while, you know why.  I'm going to try to schedule some posts in advance, but can't promise anything.

A Happy Housewarming

I love making cards for happy occasions, and what can be happier (besides a wedding or new baby) than a new house? One of my stamping friends just moved into a new house, so I had to make a card for the occasion.  The Welcome Neighbor Designer Series Paper Pad (retired) has the cutest designs, perfect for a housewarming or welcoming a new neighbor!

Since I tend to hang onto multi-purpose stamps when they're retired, I just happened to still have Party Time, which had the perfect sentiment.

I hope her new home is filled with love and laughter and many happy memories in the years to come!

ETA: Now that I look at it from a distance, I think the Basic Black 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon would have looked better. :-)
